$12,230,565 million reasons to smile

The generous spirit of Queenslanders has raised an incredible $12,230,565 for sick kids and their families. The money raised will help the Children’s Hospital Foundation support kids by funding life-saving medical research and providing patient and family support programs.

Over the past four years, the Channel Nine Telethon has raised over $46 million, which is made possible by the generosity of our Presenting Partners, and the Queensland community.

At the Channel Nine Telethon, the sold-out studio audience was rubbing shoulders all night, with celebrities such as football legends Wally Lewis and Ben Hunt, and television stars from Channel Nine’s hit drama, Hyde & Seek were on the phone panel accepting donations. Live performances from Judah, Dragon, Pseudo Echo, Leo Sayer and Dami Im brought the audience to their feet as they danced into the night to the hits of Australia’s biggest artists.

A mystical place to escape the everyday – there was an Enchanted Garden next door to the Channel Nine Telethon broadcast where The Coffee Club Telethon Ball was taking place. More than 1,000 people dressed in theme for magical night. Guests enjoyed special performances from Leo Sayer, Dragon, Psaeudo Echo and Judah, winner of The Voice 2017.

Thank you to everyone who donated, and special thanks to our presenting partners Woolworths, Queensland Government, Golden Casket, The Coffee Club, BOQ,  Sunsuper, Triple M, The Courier Mail and The Sunday Mail. Your support will help kids to laugh and smile, get better and go home sooner.

Stefanovic and Jeffreys to join fundraiser for sick kids

HOME is where the heart is for Channel Nine’s golden couple Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic. The couple, who married in April, will return to their native Queensland to co-host the Channel Nine Telethon in Brisbane on November 18 for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Despite both working for the Today show, the pair prefer to keep their relationship and work duties separate, but will make an exception in an effort to raise funds.

“I can’t wait to get back to my home state, to help the Children’s Hospital Foundation and the team at Nine raise money for the sick kids of Queensland,” Stefanovic said.

Jeffreys and Stefanovic will be joined on stage by Today’s Richard Wilkins and Natalia Cooper and Today Extra hosts Sonia Kruger and David Campbell.

Channel 9 is set to fly some of its best talent to man the phones with The Block, Family Food Fight, Married At First Sight, The Voice and even upcoming drama Bite Club all to be represented. The Channel Nine Telethon has raised more than $34 million in three years.

By making a donation, Queenslanders will help the Children’s Hospital Foundation support, care and entertain our sickest kids and their families while they’re in hospital and they can be part of something big – funding world-class research to find better treatments and ultimately cures for our most devastating childhood diseases.

We would also like to thank our presenting partners – the Queensland Government, Woolworths, BOQ, Golden Casket, The Coffee Club, The Courier Mail and The Sunday Mail, Triple M and Sunsuper – and their staff and customers for their wonderful support.

The Channel Nine Telethon will occur on Saturday 18 November. If you are interested in donating to help sick kids smile and laugh, get better and go home sooner, call 1800 909 900, or donate online now.

We're thrilled Queensland Health featured our very own Steggles Cuddle Carer, Edna, in their Health Heroes campaign.

Every year, our Cuddle Carers provide more than 2,500 warm cuddles to the tiniest of patients at Lady Cilento Children's Hospital, giving parents the chance to take a break from their baby’s bedside.

If your little one has recieved a cuddle or two while in the hospital, we'd love to hear about it. Leave a message below and we'll pass on to our Cuddle carers.

Did you know the Children's Hospital Foundation has volunteers of all kinds, including the four-legged furry variety?

Chilli is one of our incredible pet therapy dogs, who brings joy to sick kids and their families every week at the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

Over the past year, our Delta Society Australia dogs and volunteers have brightened the lives of more than 3,200 sick kids in hospital as part of our Pet Therapy program.

Research shows that interaction with these furry friends helps with pain management, stimulates the senses, has a calming effect on patients and often brings lots of laughter.

Our #FeelGoodFriday moment comes from five-year-old Chloe who shared her once-in-a-lifetime Sydney Roosters experience this morning with TODAY Show hosts, Georgie and Ben.

Chloe’s football dreams came true last night when she met her idol, Anthony Minichiello, and was given the coveted role of running the game ball out on to the field.

Chloe was was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, an aggressive type of childhood cancer, at two years of age and has spent more than half her childhood fighting it. She was given just a 50 per cent chance of survival last year when she relapsed however she continues to amaze doctors, her family and those around her on her strength and bravery.

Thank you to our partner Steggles for helping to make this special experience possible for Chloe and her family.
